In 2017, as Creative Associate for Peak (previously Arts Alive Wales), I conceived and delivered AirLab, an engagement and skills development programme focusing on drone technology.
The goals of AirLab was to explore how unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) could be used to develop visual art production in rural Wales.
AirLab explored the visual territory of the region from the sky. A series of events, as part of the project, explored the impact of this newly accessible perspective on visual arts. AirLab was a development project focused on documenting the process and the interface between people, expertise, sharing and learning. The programme included a sandpit, workshops, professional development events including the ‘Stories Told from Above’ seminar, and a series of on- and offline public events.
