I was Founding Director of bloc from 1998 to 2011 – a not-for-profit national organisation exploring the potential of digital technology on artistic practice through art commissions, debate and dialogue.
I led on all aspects of organisation including mission, strategy, and direction, as well as advocacy for the sector. I secured funding and in-kind partnerships from government, local government, arts councils, charities and organisations, including arts and cultural venues, Nesta, FEs and HEIs including Aberystwyth, Cardiff and Wrexham universities. I also established regional Northern and Southern blocs in Wales.
One of the many events organised was a two-day conference, ReMote, at the University of Wales, Lampeter, in 2003, which explored creativity, technology and remoteness and was supported by UWL, the Welsh Development Agency (WDA) and Pembrokeshire Business Initiative (PBI). See Remote: essays on creativity, remoteness and technology, a publication produced as part of the initiative.
