I have 40 years of experience as an educator across formal and non-formal learning, including being postgraduate Course Leader at the University of Salford’s MA Creative Technology and lecturing at undergraduate level on various fine art and digital media courses.

I have a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) in Secondary Computer Science from the University of Worcester (2014–2015) with three years of experience as a Teacher of Computing at secondary schools in England and Wales.

My work in informal learning includes the development of Code Club projects, as well as being Lead Artist in participatory programmes for the Sidney Nolan Trust. I volunteer as Powys Community Lead for Computing at School (CAS), as a Governor of Newtown High School and as a volunteer Staff Leader on Forest School Camps.

I have worked as an instructional designer preparing educator and learner computing resources and course content for Apps for Good, Erase All Kittens and the Raspberry Pi Foundation.

With a doctorate spanning art practice, technology, sociology and philosophy, I have a 25-year track record as an advocate of computing and digital making.

In a consultancy capacity, I have also undertaken course development for 16+ and postgraduate courses, carrying out scoping exercises and business plans for Further Education and Higher Educational Institutes.

I am very conversant with accessibility and inclusion and am aware of the range of barriers to engagement. For example, I have worked tirelessly to ensure that computing education is accessible to all. This has included involvement in the Gender Balance in Computing (GBIC) research project to encourage more girls into computing; the design and delivery of sessions for blind and partially sighted learners with Ingenuity Studio; working with young and adult Ukrainian refugees with the youth arts group Cultivate; supporting rurally based learners as a school governor; teaching those with English as an additional language; and focusing on reaching schools in challenging circumstances, with Apps for Good.
